Further details:

The Sam Maguire Passport takes you on a tour of seven locations in Sam’s home town of Dunmanway in West Cork. You will visit Sam’s house, school, town and final resting place scanning QR Codes with a mobile phone or tablet (or by accessing our website www.visitdunmanway.ie) which take you directly to the information you need to complete the puzzles and discover different aspects of Sam’s life. After you have competed the puzzle at each of the locations, you take the stamp sticker supplied with the passport and place it in the sticker box for that place before moving on to discover more about the life and times of Sam Maguire.

This passport has been designed for children and young people in mind and will also be enjoyed by any GAA enthusiast of any age who would like to discover more about the man behind Ireland’s most famous and coveted trophy

The Sam Maguire Passport was developed in 2019 to tell the story of Sam
Maguire, the man behind the famous Gaelic Athletic Association trophy.
This initiative was initiated by his community in Dunmanway in West Cork
and the proceeds will go to further developing and marketing his hometown as a place to explore his story and to build a Sam Maguire Visitor Centre.
Sam Maguire was Church of Ireland by creed and Nationalist by conviction. His community have come together to tell his story, which in itself
has been a source of reconciliation in his home town, which was very divided by the events of the Irish War of Independence and the Irish Civil War, with tragic events occurring on both sides of this small rural community.
In partnership with Cork Institute of Technology and led by Rev. Cliff Jeffers - The Church of Ireland Rector of the church where Sam Maguire is buried, we developed the Sam Maguire Trail and the Sam Maguire Passport which guide people around Sam’s hometown. This has been further developed into a Virtual Tour Sticker book so that anyone, anywhere, can go on the Sam Maguire Trail and learn about the man behind the cup.
This version of the Passport has been designed specifically with the overseas tourist in mind, but is also suitable for the domestic market and should be of particular interest in GAA circles and as a teaching aid in schools.
We are seeking retail and wholesale partners to help us get this product which has been designed and printed in Ireland to market, and would value your consideration in stocking this product and offering it to your customers.
The RRP for the passports is €5 and there is no VAT as this is classed as a book. The proceeds from the sales
are going to our community development fund. We are open to discussing appropriate margins based on volume and access to market. We have display holders which we are willing to supply free of charge to retailers
with their initial starter order, so that the Passports can be presented neatly to the consumer.
Our team of graphic design students are starting
on a second version of the passport for a differ-
ent historic figure and in the future we hope to
be able to offer a series of these passports to the
market.
If you are interested in discussing taking on this
product, we would be delighted to hear from
you.
